E4C and Ogaden Somali Community of Alberta Residence (OSCAR) will host the first Cross Cultural Leaders Summit on Community Economic Development, at the Ogaden Somali Community of Alberta (OSCAR), located at 9231 111 Street on April 28, 2016 at 6pm-9pm.
This event will be co-hosted by E4C and OSCAR. The Summit will focus on solutions for economic enablement, as well as how Edmonton’s diverse multicultural communities can collaborate to meet the pressing need for job creation and local community economic development. We will explore the top issues facing cultural communities in Edmonton, relating to improving competitiveness, job growth, innovation and overall quality of life.
By bringing together government officials and Edmonton’s community leaders: African, Indigenous, businesses and other stake holders. We will also discuss key issues facing economic developers, local Aboriginal and African leaders, community planners, and more.
Today, more than 200 million people worldwide are unemployed. Alberta’s unemployment rates are among the highest in Canada 7.4, and Edmonton’s unemployment rate is 6.8, Alberta lost the most jobs during this job lost period since the early 1980s recession. In these times of economic challenge, we in the western provinces have suffered job losses in agriculture, manufacturing, construction, culture, accommodation and professional services. In this difficult time, we need to put all of our resources together in order to overcome these challenging times.
We are looking forward to having you and we would like to thank you in advance for considering our request. If you need more information on this event, please feel free to contact us.
